I've used this hotel quite a few times because of them having a hoist, would thoroughly recommend it.

trip adviser July 2018. There are very few hotels with a hoist in the bedroom anywhere in the UK. This is what made our three night stay to see the athletics in Birmingham possible. It is fabulous that the hotel has this facility but unfortunate that check in staff are not aware that it is room 229 and 229 only. We were allocated 225 a disabled access room but no hoist. Room 229 is also an interconnecting room. I called ahead to the hotel, I advised the reservation staff but still had the very real worry that we would have to turn around and drive another 5 hours back home. No hoist, no stay. In the future I will speak to the manager in person however difficult this may be to achieve. The room I thought was very big. The hoist rail/bed configuration means not much room to hoist from chair to bed but possible for us. There is a plug by the right hand side bed side. The hoist rail in bathroom we did not use, appears that shower curtain goes around hoist runway so could not actually get into the bath? A bit of an angle but could get on toilet seat OK I assume. The hoist stopped working during our stay again causing real concern. It turns out that it was nothing to do with charging it up but that the battery needed to be taken out/put back in to 're-set' it. After this worked as normal but this b******d up our morning. Room 229 is on same floor as reception/restaurant/bar. To access gym we had to go back outside to main gym entrance. The hotel is only a couple of floors but appears not to have any lift, so for room 229 you can't get out any of the other doors and need to go via reception. At end of corridor there is an evacuation chair for one flight of chairs. There was a wedding on when we were there no noise in room 229. I though food was good choice (vegetarian) and good enough at 10.30pm. Breakfast offer 2 for 1. Breakfast was excellent. There is an outside seating area by the bar if sunny. In all the hotel was better than I expected. Was a great location, with the sat nav we got in and out of Birmingham just fine. Parking is the dreaded parking eye which you need to tap in your registration at reception. There are about 5 disabled places by the entrance and many, many parking places. photos on trip adviser.
