Our 5th visit, so that must say something. Ideal for a hoist user. Good to be close to London, but you do need a car.
South East - Deal, Kent
Seastar Cottage
Seastar is a large, beautifully adapted, family run holiday home on the seafront at Deal in Kent. It sleeps 8 in 5 comfortable bedrooms. The house is arranged to make the most of the incredible sea views with four bedrooms on the ground floor and living accommodation upstairs. We strive to provide a high quality of accommodation whilst also ensuring excellent facilities for our mobility impaired guests; allowing everyone to really enjoy a break. Seastar has been created from first hand knowledge of living with disability and we understand it just has to be right. Our facilities include; profiling beds, ceiling hoist, through floor lift, wet room, shower / commode chair and more. We can easily accommodate extended family or carers and in our first season the feedback has been excellent with many immediate repeat bookings.
Deal itself is a quiet seafront town with over three miles of level promenade and the only pleasure pier remaining in Kent. In January 2014 it won The Telegraph’s High Street of the Year award and in March 2014 was named by The Times as one of the ‘Top 30 weekend retreats’. It is a little known gem with its quirky shops, conservation area, free Sunday concerts at the bandstand, free paddling pool and beautiful coastline. Beyond Deal, within a 10 mile radius of Seastar, you can visit three castles and three championship links golf courses, the beautiful medieval town of Sandwich and a little further afield the historic city of Canterbury. It is also a fabulous base for a day trip to France and exploring the garden of England and its many attractions.
