Second Holiday Inn removes ceiling hoist!
The Holiday Inn Cardiff no longer has an accessible room with a ceiling hoist available! They are suggesting that potential customers arrange for their own hire of a mobile hoist. If that is the case why stay at HI Cardiff - there are many other hotels to choose if you have your own mobile hoist.

Hotel removes last remaining hoist.
The Holiday Inn Bloomsbury has sadly removed the second and last of their ceiling hoists. They have gone from an accessibility award winning hotel of the early 2000s to just another London hotel. They originally transformed 3 standard rooms into 2 accessible rooms with ceiling hoists and were among the first hotels to install them. They were persuaded in part by CHuC's founder the late Sue Maynard Campbell MBE so it is very sad for us to see them removed. When they refurbished a few years ago they converted the 2 rooms with hoists back into 3 standard rooms and removed one of the two hoists and have now removed the 2nd hoist.

Scandic Hotels
The Scandic Hotels group are introducing mobile hoists in 28 hotels around the Nordic region (Norway, Sweden, Denmark and Finland) and also Berlin in Germany. Further info and the locations and booking info can be seen here: www.scandichotels.com
Whilst this is a great step forward in accessibility we would rather see ceiling hoists fitted to some or all accessible rooms to reduce the number of carers need to operate the hoist and to increase safety.
