Integralifter
A new kind of 'ceiling' hoist was on show at Naidex this year (2010) – the
Integralifter. Technically, it's probably an overhead hoist rather than a
ceiling hoist. It's extremely neat, and looks as if it would be very good for
people who either don't want tracking in their bedroom and, as in my case, a
hoist permanently on show, as it stores in a cupboard beside and above the bed.
Consequently, it looks more like a piece of bedroom furniture. It doesn't have a
traversing motor, so it wouldn't suit someone who wishes to be completely
independent, but that seems to me to be the only real drawback. When I first saw
the brochure, I thought that the hoist would only move in an arc, but it has a
double jointed arm so its range of movement is far greater. As a ceiling hoist
user in hotels, I think this would be a class addition to any hotel bedroom.
